The conference participants are welcomed to the Donner Institute for an informal Welcome Reception in the evening of the first conference day. There will also be an opportunity to acquaint oneself with the Donner Library, which hosts the largest collection of books and journals on religion in the Nordic countries.
The Institute is located only a short walk from the conference venue:
The Donner Institute for Research in Religious and Cultural History
On Thursday evening, we will go for a cruise on the Steamship Ukkopekka to the island of Loistokari in the archipelago outside Turku. The cruise is an excellent way to enjoy the evening sun: on 26 June, the sun rises at 4.03 and sets at 23.04 in Turku!
Thursday 26.6, 19.00-23.00
After arriving at Loistokari, we are served a dinner buffet inspired by the Finnish archipelago, including lots of fish, barbeque – and live music.
The steamship leaves from the Aura River in the city centre at 19.00; at the symposium you will receive more information about the practical arrangements. Please note that the evening can get cold out at sea, even if it is light, so please bring a jacket and comfortable shoes.
More information about the cruise can be found at the following website: http://www.ukkopekka.fi/en/cruises/evening-cruises
