Kim Holmberg, PhD, is a researcher and a lecturer at the Department of Information Studies at Åbo Akademi University. His research interests include social media, webometrics, Web 2.0 and Library 2.0 and he was the first university teacher to use the virtual world Second Life in education in Finland. He has held several talks and presentations and organized courses and workshops about these themes for universities, libraries and other organizations.

Holmberg is the only researcher in Finland who has specialized in Internet research using webometric research methods. In his dissertation he developed webometric research methods and analyzed networks created by hyperlinks between municipal websites in Finland.

His personal interests include golf, photography, and cooking.
