Her topic is \u201c<strong>Towards Obliterature: Writing a Female Text of Hong Kong.<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Karen Cheung is a writer from Hong Kong. She is the author of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.penguinrandomhouse.com\/books\/670013\/the-impossible-city-by-karen-cheung\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"color: #ffcc13\"><i>The Impossible City: A Hong Kong Memoir<\/i><\/span><\/a>\u00a0(Random House), which was longlisted for the Andrew Carnegie Medal for Excellence in Nonfiction, and named one of the best books of the year by the\u00a0<i>Washington Post<\/i>\u00a0and\u00a0<i>The Economist<\/i>. Her essays, reported features, and cultural criticism have been published in the<i>\u00a0New York Times<\/i>,\u00a0<i>Foreign Policy<\/i>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thisamericanlife.org\/740\/there-i-fixed-it\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"color: #ffcc13\">This American Life<\/span><\/a>,\u00a0<i>New Statesman<\/i>,\u00a0<i>The Rumpus<\/i>,\u00a0<i>Evergreen Review, The Offing<\/i>, and elsewhere.
