Everyone is welcome to attend the special event that takes place in Smedjan (M227), Arken, on Thursday 10 October 2024 at 15.00-17.00.<\/p>\n

The English Department at \u00c5bo Akademi has a long tradition of research in text and discourse linguistics and pragmatics, and many of our members of staff have published in this field. To mark one item in this tradition we are organizing a book publication event to present the volume Structures in Discourse: Interaction, Adaptability, and Pragmatic Functions<\/em><\/strong>, edited by Martin Gill, Aino Malmivirta, and Brita W\u00e5rvik (John Benjamins, 2024).<\/p>\n

Our guest of honour at this event will be Tuija Virtanen-Ulfhielm, Professor Emerita of English Linguistics, whose work has been a major influence on the field, and to whom this collection of papers is dedicated.<\/p>\n

Come and hear about the volume, the process that resulted in the publication, and its background in the linguistic research at the Department.<\/p>\n

Refreshments will be served.<\/p>\n
