Hur maximera universitetens samh\u00e4llseffekt utan att \u00e4ventyra vetenskapens och undervisningens h\u00f6ga niv\u00e5?<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.abo.fi\/impact\/files\/2019\/02\/Science-in-society-24.1.2019.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Seminariet den 24.1.2019<\/a> var ett startskott f\u00f6r det nya strategiarbetet vid \u00c5A 2019 och samtidigt en avslutning p\u00e5 det <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.abo.fi\/impact\/files\/2019\/02\/A\u030aAU-Guidelines-for-Impact.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">arbete om samh\u00e4llseffekt som gjorts tillsammans med Demos Helsinki \u00e5r 2018<\/a> \u2013 en unik m\u00f6jlighet att h\u00f6ra n\u00e5gra av de fr\u00e4msta internationella experterna tala om vetenskapen och samh\u00e4llet.<\/p>\n<p>Keynote <strong>Wiljan van den Akker<\/strong>, Utrecht University, Vice-Rector of Research<\/p>\n<p><em>Wiljan van den Akker got his PhD in Modern Literature at Utrecht University in 1985 and was appointed full-professor of Modern Dutch Literature in 1987. He taught in Berlin (at the Freie Universit\u00e4t), K\u00f6ln, Paris and Lille. He was a Senior Fulbright Scholar at UCBerkeley. From 1996 till 2003 he chaired the Board of the Dutch National Endowment for the Humanities (NWO) in The Hague and represented The Netherlands in the Standing Committee for the Humanities of the European Science Foundation-ESF in Strassbourg. From 1993 till 2003 he was the Director of the Research Institute for History and Culture, after which he became Director of Research at the Royal Academy of Sciences (KNAW). He became Distinguished Faculty Professor of Poetry in 2003. From 2006 till 2014 he was Dean of Humanities at Utrecht University. Presently he is Vice-Rector for Research and Director of the Centre for Humanities. His field of research is Modern Western Poetry. He is also a published poet and novelist. Together with Jack Spaapen he recently published the LERU-Position Paper <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.abo.fi\/impact\/files\/2019\/02\/Productive-Interactions-Societal-Impact-of-Academic-Research-in-the-Knowledge-Society-Full-paper.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Productive-Interactions-Societal-Impact-of-Academic-Research-in-the-Knowledge-Society-Full-paper<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Rose-Marie Barbeau<\/strong>, University of Glasgow, Research Impact Manager<\/p>\n<p><em>Rose-Marie Barbeau is Research Impact Manager for the University of Glasgow in the UK. In addition to coordinating the University\u2019s impact submission to the Research Excellence Framework, since 2012 her primary focus has been to encourage and support a change in the institution\u2019s research culture and activity, ensuring that researchers at all levels are able to understand, articulate and plan for the potential impacts of their work. She is a Co-Investigator on the Horizon 2020-funded ACCOMPLISSH consortium assessing impact support mechanisms from social sciences and humanities research in Europe, and was a lead presenter on FutureLearn\u2019s first MOOC on impact (Research Impact: Making a Difference), which was followed by 1500+ learners in 120 countries. She holds a Master\u2019s in International Policy Studies and a BA (Hons) in French Linguistics and Literature. Rose-Marie has over 25 years\u2019 experience in communications, including 10 in the international development sector.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Riitta Pyykk\u00f6<\/strong>, University of Turku, Vice-Rector of Education<\/p>\n<p><em>Riitta Pyykk\u00f6 is Vice-Rector of the University of Turku, Finland. In this capacity, she is responsible for academic affairs, as well as quality management. She has had a long career teaching at the university level and conducting research as a professor of Russian Studies. She has also been active in the development of higher education as, e.g. a national coordinator for the Finnish Bologna implementation in 2002-2005 and a member of the Finnish Bologna Promoters\u2019\/Experts\u2019 Team in 2006-2013 and several other national working groups and projects. In 2017 she prepared for the Ministry of Education and Culture a report on the Finnish national language reserve and its development needs. From 2004 she was a member, and from 2008 until 2014, the Chair of the Finnish national quality assurance agency FINHEEC. In 2015-2016 she was chairing a Nordic working group for quality in higher education, appointed by the Nordic Council of Ministers, and continues to be a member of the group. From 2017 a member of the Register Committee of EQAR. She has participated in several European evaluations and reviews as a member or chairperson of the evaluation panel.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Jaakko Kuosmanen<\/strong>, Demos Helsinki, Senior Expert<\/p>\n<p><em>Jaakko Kuosmanen has a PhD in Political Science from the University of Edinburgh. Before joining Demos Helsinki, he has worked at the Council of Europe and more recently at the University of Oxford. In Oxford Jaakko worked at the Faculty of Law as a James Martin Research Fellow, and he was a programme coordinator at the Oxford Martin School. Jaakko also worked as a lecturer at the Blavatnik School of Government. He has worked with various governments, including the UK government, Welsh government, Scottish government, Indian government and Finnish government on the topic of long-term governance.
