MYTH is a meeting point for interdisciplinary work in memory studies, testimony research and the theory and ethics of historiography. We conduct conceptual research in four research areas at the intersection of philosophy, history and culture:<\/p>\r\n
Memory studies<\/em>: Research on memory practices and memory discourses is a diverse and often interdisciplinary domain. At the center we study the ethical and epistemological foundations of memory practices and memory discourses in the light of historical and transgenerational connections to the past.<\/p>\r\n Testimony research<\/em>: In the aftermath of numerous conflicts during the 20th century, testimony has received a unique position. The 20th century has sometimes been called \u201cthe era of the witness,\u201d and \u201cwitness literature\u201d is pointed out as one of its most prominent literary forms. In our research, we delineate the role of testimony as a source of knowledge, and explore its aesthetic and psychological dimensions.<\/p>\r\n The theory and history of historiography<\/em>: The forms of knowledge and narrative expressions of historical research are contested issues. The relation between historical research, literary discourses and memory practices is debated. At the center we study the philosophical and ethical underpinnings of historical research, particularly its relation to memory cultures and narrative traditions.<\/p>\r\n Ethics and transgenerational existence<\/em>: We live a transgenerational life. This means that our relations to history incorporate existential connections to our parents and to other generations. The researchers of the center study transgenerational implications from the vantage point of ethical responsibility and existential needs.<\/p>\r\n <\/p>\r\n MYTH \u00e4r en samlingsplats f\u00f6r tv\u00e4rvetenskapligt arbete kring minnesstudier, vittnesm\u00e5lsforskning och forskningen om historieskrivningens teori och etik. Vi arbetar framf\u00f6r allt begreppsligt kring fyra centrala teman i gr\u00e4nslandet mellan filosofi, historia och kulturvetenskap:<\/p>\r\n Minnesstudier<\/em>: Forskning om minnespraktiker och minnesdiskurser \u00e4r ett brokigt, ofta \u00e4mnes\u00f6verskridande omr\u00e5de. Vid centret bedriver vi begreppslig forskning om minnespraktikernas och minnesdiskursernas epistemiska och etiska grundvalar, i ljuset av historiska och transgenerationella band till det f\u00f6rflutna.<\/p>\r\n Vittnesm\u00e5lsforskning<\/em>: I efterdyningarna av otaliga konflikter under 1900-talet har flera framtr\u00e4dande personer tillskrivit vittnesm\u00e5let en s\u00e4rst\u00e4llning. 1900-talet har kallats \u201cvittnesm\u00e5lets era\u201d och “vittneslitteraturen” utpekats som dess fr\u00e4msta litter\u00e4ra form. V\u00e5r forskning syftar b\u00e5de\u00a0 till att\u00a0 utreda vittnesm\u00e5lets s\u00e4rst\u00e4llning som kunskapsk\u00e4lla, och att utforska dess estetiska och psykologiska dimensioner.<\/p>\r\n Historieskrivningens teori och historia<\/em>: Historieforskningens kunskapsformer och narrativa uttryck \u00e4r omdebatterade, s\u00e4rskilt i relation till litter\u00e4ra diskurser och minnespraktiker. Ett centralt forskningsomr\u00e5de vid centret \u00e4r att klarg\u00f6ra historieforskningens filosofiska och etiska f\u00f6rh\u00e5llande till det f\u00f6rflutna, i synnerhet i relation till minneskulturer och ber\u00e4ttartraditioner.<\/p>\r\n Etik och transgenerationell existens<\/em>: V\u00e5r mest privata relation till v\u00e5rt f\u00f6rflutna \u00e4r v\u00e5r relation till v\u00e5ra f\u00f6r\u00e4ldrar och f\u00f6reg\u00e5ende generationer.\u00a0 I den meningen lever vi ett transgenerationellt liv och v\u00e5r relation till v\u00e5r historia rymmer en existentiell dimension.
