V\u00e5r professor i engelska spr\u00e5ket och litteraturen, Anthony Johnson (bilden) ger under h\u00f6sten en ny kurs om forskningsf\u00e4ltet Imagologi som han sj\u00e4lv till stor del har varit med om att skapa. ”Ant” \u00e4r en mycket inspirerande och underh\u00e5llande f\u00f6rel\u00e4sare och det h\u00e4r \u00e4r ett unikt tillf\u00e4lle att bekanta sig med ett helt nytt s\u00e4tt att f\u00f6rh\u00e5lla sig till det visuella inom s\u00e5v\u00e4l bild som spr\u00e5k.<\/p>\n

I (Fred) take the liberty to advertise a new course in the \u00c5bo Akademi ”Visual Studies”
\nprogramme – ”Cultural Imagology – An Introduction”. It will be held by Professor Anthony
\nJohnson and starts next Thursday (the 6th) at 4-6 PM in Helikon, Arken. The target group
\nis BA, MA and doctoral students. For BA students there is a 3 credits option, for MA and

Aim: Because the study of images (and an understanding of ways in which images are constructed) is an essential component in all Humanities Research, the field of Cultural Imagology has been developed as an interdisciplinary service discipline to help researchers deepen their understanding of the issues behind image studies within their own discipline and to develop a working knowledge of selected theoretical approaches that may be of use to them in the pursuit of their own special research interests<\/p>\n

Contents: Topics covered will include: Cultural Imagology (Or: What is an Image?) \u2013 An Overview; National Imagology \u2013 The Social Level; Historical Imagology \u2013 The Temporal Level; Geographical Imagology \u2013 The Spatial Level; The Soundscape, Smellscape, Taste<\/p>\n

Prerequisites for MA-students of English: 60 credits (ECTS) of English at university level. For other students there are no prerequisites.<\/p>\n

Target audience: Doctoral, Licentiate and Masters level students within the Faculty of Humanities.<\/p>\n
