Techniques based on graph theory was the central topic of the plenary lectures given at the annual seminar in Optimization and Systems Engineering 2013 by professor Leo Liberty from École polytechnique in Paris, France, currently active at IBM Thomas J. Watson Research Center in New York, USA. Professor Liberti is also a member of the OSE group’s International Scientific Panel. The 2013 seminar took place at Forum Marinum, Turku on November 15th.

Professor Jukka Corander speaks about breakthroughs in the analysis of resistant bacteria through the means of statistical data analysis at the Academy of Finland breakfast meeting January 16, 2013. Some of the results were recently published in a paper in the journal Genome Biology. More information (in Finnish) can be found here.

Modeling, optimization and control were the topics of the plenary lectures at the annual seminar in Optimization and Systems Engineering 2012 taking place at Åbo Akademi University in Turku on November 29. Keynote speaker was professor Stratos Pistikopoulos from Imperial College London, UK, one of the members of the International Scientific Panel of the OSE group.

The annual seminar in Optimization and Systems Engineering at Åbo Akademi University, hosted by the OSE group, took place on December 8, 2011, in Axelia II, Turku. This year the OSE group was fortunate to be able to welcome professor Ignacio Grossmann from Carnegie Mellon University, USA, as the plenary speaker.

Dr Michael Bussieck from GAMS Development Corporation talked about new developments in the GAMS modeling framework on a seminar arranged by the OSE group on December 1, 2011. The research collaboration with Dr Bussieck has among other things led to the AlphaECP solver implementation in GAMS.
