The speaker of the day is Tuomo Hiippala form University of Helsinki. In this presentation, Professor Hiippala discusses his current project, A Foundation for Empirical Multimodality Research, funded by the European Research Council (2024–2029).

Welcome to PREMIS in Helikon (A202), Arken, at 16:00-18:00 on 12th of March, 2025.
 
The upcoming PREMIS seminar brings the snapshots of ongoing work under project ‘Twentieth-Century Railway Imaginations: Building the Mobility and Infrastructural Humanities’ (acronym: RAILIMAGE) currently underway at the department of English Language and Literature, Åbo Akademi University.
 
RAILIMAGE develops an urgently needed humanization of transport studies. It does so by writing the global qualitative and imaginative history of the long-distance railway journey and its spaces in the twentieth century, reaffirming the role of the railway in twenty-first-century imaginations of more sustainable mobility.
