I was in Arizona

Tapio Salmi

We landed on the Tucson Airport and the boys hired a car. It was a big American van. The boys were driving fast but skillfully. We came to the hotel and enjoyed our first Coke in Arizona. It was lovely. The bedrooms in the hotel were big and we had a huge TV screen, much bigger than at home. I prayed a little and slept well.  In the morning I saw a rabbit in the bushes outside my room. It was freezing a little since it  was a bit cold night in Arizona.

USA is great!

We went to a national park. I enjoyed again a big Coke. The cactuses were really huge and  long, but I bought an ice cream to myself and to my best friend.  We were walking more than three miles on the mountains. It was great. I found a dead snake in the sand. First I was a bit afraid, but then I took it, I put it in my bag, to give it as a gift to my sister. Soon I got a better idea. I shall but it in the bag of my favorite girl.

We were driving back to the hotel, but we stopped for eating.  It was a Burger King. I took a big hamburger and I put a lot of ketchup on it. It was great. I was so happy that I gave a four dollars tip.  We went to our rooms. After a while, I heard screaming from the neighboring room. The girl had found the dead snake!  I was so happy that I started watching comics in TV, but soon I fall asleep.

USA is great!

Next morning I took a big breakfast with my friends: oat porridge, milk and scrambled eggs and bacon and two big glasses of Californian orange juice, of course.  I was too years ago with my school class to California and lost my glasses in the Pacific. It was a great trip.

Today we shall go to the Airspace Center. It is my dream. When I am grown up I shall become an astronaut and make scientific experiments on Mars or at least in the space station. My dad has told me stories about Neil Amstrong and Buzz Aldrin who landed on the Moon.  From there they took a phone call to President Nixon. It was great, and Amstrong and Aldrin and Nixon were great men.

Now the car stopped at the space center. I saw the smallest jet plan in the world and I saw the big American aircrafts and American missiles, which will stop our enemies. The American soldiers are brave, but I want to become an astronaut.  I saw a model of our first atomic bomb made by our people. They did a great job. In the museum shop I bought a small rocket. At home I will put up a space station of my own. Like Cape Canaveral. I shall invite my best friends to watch the first launching. It will become great.

We left the center. We looked to the sky. Seven fighters flew over us. It was so great that I almost started crying. Perhaps I should become a pilot. Is the school expensive?  Perhaps my dad can pay it for me.  He is always thinking my best.

On the way back, we stopped at MacDonalds. I ate a big cheese burger and I put a lot of ketchup on it. It was great.

In the hotel room we watched  TV. My friend switched the TV to channel eight. It is CNN. My dad always watched CNN, since it tells the truth, he says and he knows since he knows everything. CNN tells what is happening in our country and abroad, but I am not interested in Europe. There are so many countries and languages that it confuses me.  I saw a nice uncle with white hair in the TV. Now I remember who he is: senator McCain, from Arizona. He is a great man, my dad has told me. Vietcong-communists kept him in prison in four years, but he is a tough guy. Now he says that President Obama should be more tough against the Soviet-Russian communists who invaded Ukraine.  I hate communists. Senator MacCain is a great man. He protects our liberty, our home, my mum and my dad and my sister. I want to become the senator of Arizona, like MacCain.

I get tired, it is time to pray. I pray for a good health to my mum and my dad and my sister. I send greetings to the Lord, protect the Senator of Arizona and our country, my teacher also, she is nice. Tomorrow we go to the swimming pool.

USA is great!

Epilog. Jag var verkligen i Tucson, Arizona; konferensens tema var Katalys i organiska reaktioner. Till vilken genre den ovanstående berättelsen hör vet jag inte. Texten bara rann ned.
